Product Description:

S-Adenosyl-L-methionine (abbreviated as SAMe or Adomet), also known as S-adenosyl-L-methionine or adenosylmethionine, carries an activated methyl group and acts as a coenzyme involved in methylation reactions. It is present in all eukaryotic cells. Regular consumption of S-adenosylmethionine may help combat depression, liver disease, and arthritis/joint pain. As a dietary supplement, it helps improve mood, support liver health, and promote joint comfort.
S-Adenosylmethionine is the active form of methionine (Met), widely present in both animals and plants. It is synthesized enzymatically from the substrate L-methionine and ATP by S-Adenosyl-L-Methionine Synthetase (EC 2.5.1.6). The methionine bond is a high-energy bond, and its propylamine moiety is also incorporated into polyamine compounds. It acts as a methyl donor during the formation of choline, creatine, and other methylated compounds. It is believed that the breakdown of methionine also involves this substance.

Functional Role:

SAM plays a crucial role in the metabolism of all cells in the body. It serves as a methyl donor for over 100 different methyltransferase-catalyzed reactions; it is also a precursor molecule for the transsulfuration process in glutathione (GSH) synthesis and the transaminopropylation process in polyamine synthesis, and is associated with the activity of various enzymes. A sufficient supply of SAM is essential for the normal functioning of these metabolic pathways, performing methylation, transamination, and sulfation functions.
S-adenosylmethionine is a biochemical agent that improves cellular metabolism. It influences the fluidity and microviscosity of plasma membrane phospholipids and proteins through methylation, and increases levels of glutathione (GSH), sulfate, and taurine levels in the liver. It is effective against marasmus, liver toxins, and alcoholic fatty liver disease, and can prevent hepatitis, fatty liver, liver fibrosis, cirrhosis, and liver cancer caused by bile stasis and other factors.
S-Adenosyl-L-methionine is an excellent liver nutrient: it prevents liver damage caused by alcohol, drugs, and cytokines; prevents bile stasis; prevents liver damage caused by chronic active hepatitis and other factors. Prevents neuronal necrosis caused by hypoxia (hypoxia); promotes the regeneration of neuronal cells and nerve fibers. Prevents the onset of heart disease, cancer, and other diseases. Treats conditions such as arthritis. Acts as an antidepressant, with better efficacy than conventional clinical medications and fewer side effects. A prerequisite substance for the synthesis of melatonin.
SAMe possesses anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and tissue-repairing properties, demonstrating significant efficacy in treating joint diseases. It effectively promotes cartilage regeneration and alleviates joint pain, stiffness, and swelling. Compared to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), it neither inhibits prostaglandin synthesis nor causes gastrointestinal irritation. In Europe, SAMe is already used as a prescription medication for the treatment of arthritis.
